Cotton thread, Xiaoshan needle making

Variable size

The design takes inspiration from the creased and fractured backing paper utilized in the lace-making process. By employing the macro imagery of creased lines and punctures formed by needles, I aim to draw attention to the overlooked backing paper and its significance. Simultaneously, the abstract pattern serves as a symbol of the powerful surge of the Qiantang River, originating from my hometown, as it engulfs the sandy landscape.
